The DoubleTree by Hilton Hull was built to fulfil the East Yorkshire city's shortage of premium hotels. The 165-room hotel features a branded destination restaurant and bar, and a 1,000 sqm pillar less ballroom. The contractors opted to use Gripple Universal Brackets, QT Universal Clamps and QT Compact Clamps on this project.

Contractors Airco were appointed to carry out the mechanical works for the hotel. They opted to use Gripple products in order to resolve various site issues quickly and efficiently. A new Mitsubishi hybrid air-conditioning system was installed on this project which required up to 34 pipes to be fitted into a 250 mm void. Gripple supplied a bespoke Universal Bracket which had been made to fit the 250 mm void and a combination of QT Universal Clamps and QT Compact Clamps were also used to support the pipes. By using Gripple products on this project, the contractor was make considerable time and cost savings.
The clamps were used by the contractor to install all pipework efficiently. Gripple QT Universal Clamps and QT Compact Clamps all include a quarter turn attachment which is used to connect a clamp to the Universal Bracket in a simple and effective way. The clamps arrived to site in kits with the Gripple Universal Bracket. The clamps are up to ten times faster than traditional methods due to the integral mounting pillar. They are robust and have retractable sleeves which are pre fitted to the wire rope to prevent galvanic erosion.
Gripple Universal Brackets are designed to be used with Gripple clamps and hangers to simplify the suspension of building services. Gripple brackets arrive to site pre-cut which eliminates cutting any channel on site which improves health and safety as no tools or “hot works” permits are required. The multi-use bracket has two active faces allowing for suspension of multiple services. In this case piping was suspended on both faces. The brackets have a 150 kg load rating in sizes ranging from 240 mm to 1540 mm.
By using Gripple, Airco were able to complete the works four times faster than traditional installation methods.
