Made in Sheffield hat trick for Gripple

Sheffield-based Gripple Limited, renowned for its extensive range of suspension systems, has once again responded to customer need and developed the new Black Line which ‘disappears’ into a ceiling structure.

For three years running Gripple Limited has received a Made in Sheffield award – this year as Exporter of the Year – presented at a prestigious event hosted by broadcaster Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
The Made in Sheffield Awards are a celebration of both manufacturers and manufacturing in the Sheffield city region.

Influential representatives from other manufacturers in the city and heads of prominent commercial organisations in the region judged Gripple for its international trade performance – consistently selling overseas more than 80 per cent of its production.

Gripple, as an employee-owned company and a global success story with its iconic wire fastener, congratulated its entire staff for their concerted efforts.

Emma Hibbert, Gripple’s internal sales manager who applied for an award, said: “We are honoured to have been given this important accolade by our Sheffield peers. It is everyone’s award and we are all very proud.”

As well as scooping the award in this category, Gripple was short-listed in the Innovation and Apprentice of the Year categories and as a finalist the company will be put forward for the Made in UK Awards.

The judges commented: “Gripple perhaps hasn’t increased its overall export percentage but it has consistently delivered new and innovative products to sustain an incredible presence in innumerable markets. It was an exemplar exporter by which others should be compared.”

Last year Gripple received the scheme’s Investment in People Award and in 2013 was honoured with the top Made in Sheffield award.
