Purchasing Administrator (temporary maternity cover)

We are now looking for purchasing administrator (maternity cover) to join the Gripple supply chain team on a temporary basis. This is a nine-month fixed term contract minimum, with the potential for extension. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, hard-working individual capable of working both as part of a team and on their own.

The role

Working within the supply chain team, you will be based within the purchasing team responsible for supplying goods into our UK-based manufacturing plants.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous administrative experience who is keen to build a career in purchasing or supply chain. You’ll provide essential support to the purchasing team to ensure materials and components are sourced efficiently and delivered on time to meet production schedules. Core tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • raising and processing purchase orders accurately and efficiently
  • liaising with suppliers to confirm pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules
  • monitoring order status and follow up on overdue or incomplete deliveries
  • maintaining supplier records and ensuring accurate data entry into purchasing systems
  • supporting supplier management and ensuring compliance with purchasing policies and procedures
  • supporting the direct supply chain team with administrative tasks and reporting for both internal and external consumption
  • assisting in sourcing new suppliers in line with company values
  • supporting the buyers obtaining quotations
  • monitoring a shared email inbox
  • providing accurate lead times to sales teams
  • work with multiple departments across the business to ensure purchasing requirements are met

Working hours 

Mon - Fri 8.30am - 5.00pm (with flexibility within office hours of 7.00am-7.00pm Monday-Friday).

Who you are?

You will need to have experience of working in a manufacturing environment, preferably within an administrative purchasing role. You should have keen attention to detail, with strong analytical, numerical and IT skills.

You should also be able to offer the following:

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Be able to manage and prioritise tasks to given deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience using ERP/ MRP systems
  • Understanding of supply chain and procurement processes
