Covelli Center is a $30 million multi-purpose arena at Ohio State University that will serve as home to a variety of varsity sports: volleyball, gymnastics, fencing, wrestling, and women’s basketball, as well as serving as the host site for local tournaments and camps.

TP Mechanical is the contractor on this project for HVAC and plumbing. As an alternative to suspending with hanger strap, all thread, and unistrut, Gripple provided benefits on this job that included ease of installation and labor savings, as well as providing a nice clean look with very little waste to pick up. Superintendent Aaron Thomas has been using Gripple on every project for the last 10 years and said, “Gripple is by far the best innovation I have been introduced to in my 25 years of sheet metal. We used it to hang some big round ductwork on this job, up in the bar joist. This was my first time using the No.5 Gripple Hanger, and I am impressed with the ease of installation. When you’re 50 feet in the air it was great….no messing with rods and beam clamps. Just loop it and move on.”

In my opinion, Gripple is 5 times faster than traditional ways. The installation looks clean, and makes the job look clean by not having hanger strap and cut ends of rod and strut lying around.
