Seismic bracing solutions for critical data center infrastructure

The Oppidan Data Center in Memphis, Tennessee is a 99,000 sq. ft., 10 MW facility designed to support critical digital infrastructure. With extensive electrical and telecommunications systems installed throughout the building, the project required reliable support and seismic bracing solutions to ensure performance and compliance.

Located in a Class D seismic zone, the project demanded robust seismic restraint for electrical containment and cable management systems, while also maintaining the speed and efficiency required on large-scale data center construction projects.

Delivering a flexible suspension and seismic solution

Working with Mid-South Electric and local distribution partner ASC Equipment, Gripple provided a tailored solution to support long service drops and complex cable basket installations across the facility.

The project utilized Gripple TecLoc Cable Bracing Kits, alongside Gripple suspension systems, to create a fast, adjustable and code-compliant installation for the electrical containment systems.

A key challenge on the project was the 20 ft service drops required to suspend cable basket runs throughout the building. Using UniGrip hangers and Universal Brackets, the installation team created a double-tiered trapeze system at each drop to support multiple cable basket levels.

The system’s adjustability allowed installers to quickly level and adjust trapeze assemblies without loosening nuts or reworking threaded rod, significantly improving installation efficiency across the large facility.

A faster installation for large-scale electrical infrastructure

By combining Gripple suspension systems with TecLoc seismic bracing, the contractor was able to install electrical containment systems faster and with greater flexibility than traditional threaded rod and strut methods.

The lightweight components and adjustable system helped simplify installation across the large facility while maintaining compliance with seismic requirements.
