The new school development in Wales required a fast, flexible, and reliable containment solution to support the delivery of modern building services across the education facility. To meet the project requirements, Willmott Dixon and their supply chain utilised Gripple’s Fast Trak system, Fire Rated Clips and B-Lock wire suspensions throughout the build, helping streamline electrical and mechanical installations while maintaining a high-quality finish across the project.

Speaking to our supply chain on this project, they’re absolutely raving about the speed of time it takes to put the Gripple system in as opposed to threaded rod. It’s a lot quicker and on a straight run it gets installed in no time at all.

To support the successful delivery of the M&E installation on this build, Gripple’s Technical Services team worked closely with Willmott Dixon from design stage through to installation. The team reviewed drawings at design stage to determine the most suitable suspension systems for the various substrates and building services being installed. Gripple products were selected based on their ability to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the site as Gripple products contain less material weight than traditional M&E bracketry supports such as threaded rod so the reduction in material leads to contractors benefitting from embodied carbon savings too.

Technical support has always been excellent. From early design stage where we issue containment drawings for a design to be drawn up right through to install on-site where the Gripple guys turn up and do pull tests for us, give toolbox talks and just general support when we have had challenges on-site where containment has had to move. The response from Gripple has been excellent.

Primary electrical and mechanical containment runs were suspended using Fast Trak. Our innovative Fast Trak system is made up of our prefabricated slotted channel, our patented ‘Track’ and ‘Cartridge’, allowing you to safely install a complete trapeze bracket up to six times faster than traditional rod and strut.

Lighting services and small cable runs were suspended via Fire Rated Clips. The clips are available in two sizes (single or double) to suit various amounts of cable and are supplied with fire rated concrete screws as standard. Fire Rated Clips provide contractors with a simplified installation as no cable baskets or trays are required as smaller cables can be secured directly to the soffit. Gripple’s Fast Trak and Fire Rated Clip range of products are third party fire tested to BS 476 (ISO 834).
