Production Operator
We are looking for a production operator to join the Gripple operations team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, hard-working individual capable of working both as part of a team and on their own.

The role
We are looking for a skilled and detail-orientated technical machine operator to join our dynamic production team. Based at our Norfolk Bridge Works site and reporting to a shift leader, you will be responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining complex machinery to ensure efficient and high-quality output. You’ll play a key part in keeping our production lines running smoothly and safely.
This role requires regular manual handling; therefore, energy and enthusiasm are crucial. The position will also involve:
- setting up and operating machinery according to specifications and production schedules, ensuring targets are achieved
- monitoring machine performance and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
- performing routine maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical issues
- recording production data accurately
- collaborating with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve technical issues
- reading and understanding relevant standard operating procedures
- performing manual assembly, using components, tools and equipment
- reading and understanding product route cards (BOM) and drawings
- identifying defects with components or finished goods and reporting them accordingly
- undertaking asset care as part of your daily role
- maintaining and driving forward 5S standards
- using IT systems (E8, MIPS/Gemba, Dynamics 365) to update works orders and complete quality checks
Working hours
The position will entail working regular mornings and afternoons Monday to Friday, on a two-week shift pattern. Nights and weekend work may also be required to meet the demands of the business.
You may also be required to help in other areas on site. A flexible, ‘can do’ attitude is therefore paramount.
Who you are?
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- A good mechanical aptitude and a passion for engineering
- Experience operating technical or automated machinery in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Strong mechanical aptitude with problem solving skills
- Ability to read technical drawings, manuals or schematics
- Numeracy skills and an ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, with a good standard of written and spoken English
- Skills to consider include automated welding machines, fibre laser cutting technologies, roll forming, wire forming and programming, Trumpf automated machines and programming

- Enthusiasm with a good work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills
- An organised approach and ability to cope well under pressure
- Good problem-solving capacity and ability to work on own initiative
- A flexible, hard-working and ‘can do’ attitude and adaptability to changes in your working environment

- Self-motivation and the ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
- The drive to challenge machine targets, always identify areas for improvement and remain vigilant and observant
