FDOT Turnpike Project E8P95, Florida
Date: 4 May 2026

At the intersection of the Florida turnpike and the 408, the Florida Department of Transportation had a multi-phased project consisting of planting and bracing many types of trees. This project consisted of planting and bracing eight different trees of all shapes and sizes. Gripple Palm Bracing Kits are versatile and can be used on wide variety of palm tree species. Gripple Palm Brace Kits are being used to efficiently secure 291 palm trees; Sabal Palms, Mule Palms, Bismarck Palms, Nitida Palms, Medjool Palms, and Puerto Rico Hat Palms. Gripple Tree Staking Kits are being used to brace 79 small caliper trees; Slash Pines and Live Oaks. Within Gripple’s pre-assembled Palm Brace Kits anchor 3s and 4s are being used due to tree size and loose soil conditions. Griffin Trees and Groundtek of Central Florida had stated that Gripple Tree Bracing Kits are easy and fast systems to install. They were also pleased with the aesthetics of the system and how there is very little visual footprint.

Post Hurricane Irma: After hurricane Irma came up the peninsula of Florida, this job had the least amount of damage and palm movement compared to any other FDOT project in the area. The Gripple System held the trees in place better than any of the other projects with the traditional wood staking systems.”
