Severe storms in late April of 2014 cause sufficient flood damage throughout Escambia County. Along Carpenter’s Creek homeowners lost over 20 feet of property due to the flood damage. Typically, behind the homeowners property is a gentle flowing stream that runs from a spring North of Interstate 10. In late April the gentle flowing stream started looking more like the raging Colorado River in some homeowner’s perspective. Due to the damaged caused by the high flowing water, L & L Construction came in and graded the site and prepared to the site for the installation of 17,680 sf of Flexamat.

Prior to the install of the Flexamat, seasonal grass seed was applied to allow for vegetated growth to help provide stabilization to the streambank. Due to high flow and soil conditions in certain parts of the site Gripple Terra Lock Anchors were installed to provide intimate contact between the Flexamat and the soil. The contractors installed over 500 TL4CRS-TLA3-6FT-4MM-Z anchors throughout the entire project to insure intimate contact and prevent additional erosion.

Gripple Terra Lock Anchors helped install Flexamat faster while delivering the secure soil contact needed to prevent further erosion. The system saved installation time and provided confidence that the streambank would remain protected.
