At the new Advent Hospital project in Lenexa, Kansas (Advent Health’s fourth full-service hospital in the area), US Engineering installed Gripple Spider Cast-in-Place Concrete Inserts for suspending sanitary waste, domestic water, med gas, duct, and multi-trade racks. The Spider was chosen for its versatility, ease-of- use, and installation speed. Prior to the start of the project, Gripple had gone in and met with the Project Managers, the Estimators, and all the Designers to give an overview of the solutions that would suit this project best. To make everything easier, the Gripple team then provided submittal pack data for the Engineers and Revit files for the Estimating Team. The biggest differentiator for the Gripple Spider is its versatility.

From below, it can accommodate four different sizes of Gripple Cable Hangers pre-fitted with a Push-In Toggle end fitting, or it can accommodate 3/8” to 3/4” threaded rod fitted with a Gripple Push-In-Toggle adapter end. Bryan McGhee, Pipe-Fitter Superintendent at US Engineering, praised the Spider for being user-friendly, easy to use, and fast, saying, “I’ve been doing this for so many years, and in my experience I can see the time savings and the money that can be saved on a job.” Ryan Eder, Plumbing Superintendent, also pointed out that, “When you’re installing a lot of embeds like this, rather than having a 3/8”, a 1/2”, a 5/8”, a 3/4”, you get it all
with one product—and that’s the Spider.”

I’ve been in the industry for 27 years, and this is definitely a game-changer.”
