We are now recruiting two multi-skilled maintenance engineering apprentices (mechatronics maintenance technician) to join the engineering team on our 2024 Gripple Apprenticeship Scheme, starting in September.

What’s it all about?

Based across all our Sheffield sites, the apprenticeship will be for a three-year term, with training provided both internally and externally at AMRC Training Centre (six-month block release) to complete an apprenticeship in Mechatronics Maintenance Technician.

Reporting to an engineering team leader, you will work within the operations department, learning all aspects of the role. Duties you will be trained to do will include the following:

Mechanical:
• basic bench fitting
• milling, turning, drilling, welding and grinding
• general breakdown repair
• reading from technical drawings electrical and hydraulic
• basic PLC interrogation
• basic electrical skills
• basic robotic programming

Electrical:
• PLC programming
• electrical fault finding (low and high voltage)
• robotic programming
• electrical panel building
• electrical installations

Working hours 

Mon – Thurs 8.00am - 4.00pm and Fri 8.00am – 3.00pm.

What do I need to offer?To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must have GCSE Maths and English at Grades C or 4 or above and be:

  • able to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • enthusiastic and pro-active, with a good work ethic, willingness to learn and ability to work on your own initiative
  • numerate and able to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, with a good standard of written and spoken English
  • able to work with people at all levels

To be eligible for a government-funded apprenticeship, you must also have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last three, consecutive years.
