Barrie-Simcoe Emergency Services Campus is a new modern facility which will house the Barrie Police Service, Simcoe County Paramedic Services and Barrie Fire and Emergency Service backup dispatch communications all in one location.

Gripple worked with Kelson from the design to completion phase, providing a full engineering package as well as supplying the materials. A Gripple site engineer was on-site throughout the initial installation phase to provide training to the installers, and to also check the installation was done correctly.

Gripple’s seismic solutions were installed throughout the building to support the mechanical and HVAC services to minimize damage from an earthquake or seismic event.

Both the GS 10 and GS 12 kits were installed, as they are up to 10 times faster to install than traditional methods, along with having colour coded tags to allow for easy field verification.

The Gripple seismic bracing kits come with a selection of pre-stretched cable, available in 10 ft, 15 ft and 20 ft lengths, pre-attached end fittings, and standard or retrofit brackets. The Gripple seismic cable bracing kits also have their own Load and Resistance Factor Designs (LRFD).

The kits also arrived on-site in zone specific boxes, so the contractor could easily locate the site location for each kit.

“Working with Gripple was a thorough process for seismic engineering and supply. They are certainly leading the way with their in-depth support and standardization of solutions in a very misunderstood industry. Packaging and shipping was very organized when it arrived on site. All items were setup by zone allowing us to easily decipher what was for where. They were open to feedback and took alternative ideas into consideration when engineering.”
