FAQs

There are so many different ways to work with wire and wire rope. Installation methods for hangers, fence, trellising wire etc. differ from region to region and from country to country.

Gripple now work in over 80 countries and here are some of the most common questions that we are asked. We hope these help, if you need further advice, please contact us and we will help.

Can I use Gripple on Barbed wire?

Yes, Gripple units can be used both on mild steel and high tensile barbed wire and different diameters (see product table).

On mild steel wire, the barbs are wrapped through the twin wires and on high tensile the barbs tend to be wrapped around both twin wires. Therefore, on mild steel the barbs near the end of the two joining wires should be removed otherwise they may snarl-up on tensioning; on high tensile, the barbs tend to be pushed along the wires when tensioning, so there is less of a need to remove the barbs.

Of course, to initially insert the barbed wire into the Gripple unit, a few sets of barbs do need to be removed.
