Gripple honoured with fifth Queen's award

Gripple is delighted to have been recognised with another Queen’s Award for International Trade, the ultimate accolade for its staff around the world.

The company’s 3900 customers spread across 80 countries, accounting for 85 per cent of its turnover, have purchased more than 500 million Gripple fasteners for use in construction, agricultural and civils markets.

Since Gripple last won a Queen’s Award four years ago its turnover has more than doubled to more than £48m. The company’s staff numbers have increased to 453 and its customer base has grown in excess of 45 per cent. Gripple has reinforced its position as the world’s market leader in the supply of wire joining and tensioning devices.

Hugh Facey, Gripple chairman said: “It is fantastic that Gripple has been recognised again for its continued overseas growth. Hitting £50 million turnover in 2016 will be a milestone as we continue to work onwards and upwards.”

The company’s strategy of developing innovative problem-solving products, developing long term customer relationships and investing in global markets has clearly paid dividends, and gives Gripple the confidence that its business model will continue to grow and create a long term sustainable business.

Gripple is proud of its global supply performance. The company’s manufacturing base in Sheffield, which sources more than 90 per cent of its components in the EU, has also increased productivity in excess of 30 per cent in the last five years.

The company’s growth would not have been achieved without its sales offices in Chicago, Obernai, Sheffield and now New Delhi, which deliver more than 50 product groups and exemplar customer service to customers on a daily basis.

The employee-owned company has already received two Queen’s Awards for innovation and one for sustainable development and the company is one of few companies which have received awards in each category.
