What’s A Gripple?

“Amidst a plague of useless gadgets and false promises, the Gripple is a true rarity in the modern age - a product that genuinely makes life easier.”

The word ‘Gripple’ has come to stand for many things; it’s the collective name of our company; a brand of quality and excellence. But above all, it’s the term we use when referring to our extensive range of wire joiners and tensioners. The Gripple as a product can go by many other names, it can take many forms, and it can perform many tasks, yet at the heart of all these variations lies one unifying and incredibly simple concept.

A portmanteau of the words ‘grip’ and ‘pull’, a Gripple is a device which does just that – wire or wire-rope is inserted into the channel, where it is ‘gripped’ by a spring-loaded ceramic roller or serrated wedge, and ‘pulled’ through to tension the wire. Mirrored on the opposite side, this allows the wire to be looped through the other channel, or connected to a second piece of wire.

The premise is as straightforward as they come – the wire will go one way, but not the other. Our inimitable design capitalises on its inherent strength, and is why Gripples can be used for tensioning fences, bearing cable-trays, supporting trellises, hanging lights, anchoring end-posts, displaying signs, sustaining crop-wires, bracing ductwork, maintaining nets, carrying pipes, holding horse mesh, suspending shade-screens, ceiling panels, trunking, safety lines, and so much more beyond.

From the construction site to the vineyard; from the farm to the factory; from the supermarket to your garden at home, there’s a Gripple to suit every purpose. Conceived as a solution to the problem of joining fence wire, the notion of what a Gripple is - and what it can be - has never stopped evolving. But at its core the principle remains the same, because we at Gripple truly believe that the best ideas are simple, and the best ideas last.
