Gripple - ‘Made In Sheffield’
Posted: 29/06/2009
Standing proud amongst our home city's manufacturing elite
Originating from a city with such a strong industrial history, Gripple was privileged to be on display at the recent ‘Made In Sheffield’ exhibition. The showcase was organised by the Academy of Makers, honouring Sheffield’s rich manufacturing heritage and celebrating the many diverse products created within the city.
Both our agricultural and industrial products were on display in the gallery, with No2 Gripple hangers used to suspend a bike from the ceiling - itself on display to represent Sheffield Hallam University’s Centre for Sports and Exercise Science. It made for quite a striking scene, with visitors commenting on the unique inventiveness of the Gripple device.
The eleven day event took place at the Butcher Works Gallery in Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter. As a carefully restored building with architectural and historic significance, it is in many ways not dissimilar to Gripple’s own Old West Gun Works.
